Doomadgee Youth Council
About us
Working together for a stronger tomorrow
Our Vision
Doomadgee Aboriginal Shire Council (DASC) recognises that young people bring valuable perspectives, lived experience, and practical insight into the challenges and opportunities within their community. The Youth Council has been established to create a clear and supported pathway for young people to take part in discussions and decisions that affect their lives and their community.
Our Vision is to empower young people in Doomadgee to contribute to community leadership, influence decision-making, and help shape positive outcomes for future generations, where young people are empowered, heard, and leading positive change.
Our Mission
To bring young people together through connection and culture, sport, recreation, leadership, and youth voice, using youth-led and youth-informed approaches to create real opportunities, strengthen community connection, and deliver meaningful outcomes for young people in Doomadgee.
To ensure young people in Doomadgee are heard, valued, and supported through youth-led and youth-informed approaches that strengthen culture, leadership, community connection, and real opportunities, creating lasting positive change for young people, community, and future generations.
Our Goals
The purpose of the Doomadgee Youth Council is to provide the DASC with strategic, informed, and representative advice on matters affecting young people in the community. The aim of the Youth Council is to strengthen youth participation in local decision-making and ensure the views, priorities, and lived experiences of young people are embedded in Council planning, policy, and community development and programs.
